Milly - Staffie, Bitch (2 Years)

Post  F on Sun Aug 07, 2011 10:17 pm

Milly came to us from the pound and was due to be put to sleep. However, despite her brush with death, Milly loves life and is happy to meet everyone and everything. Her muscles must have put people off, as she's been in kennels since August 2011 but underneath she is a gentle soul that loves a cuddle.

She likes other dogs, but will need careful introductions as she's been in a kennel environment for so long. She will need a strong owner as she hasn't had consistent handling, but she has proven herself to be a very friendly girl.

Few more pics of Milly, more will be added later, provided this gorgeous girl stays at the kennels long enough to take them!!!

Milly Munch

Post  Jeanette on Sun Aug 14, 2011 12:37 pm

Milly is a wonderfully muscley girl, didn't want to play in the playpen was happy to sniff around and came back when called, was no trouble putting the lead back on and walked without pulling. She did sit for treats eventually, but we didn't get round to paw! She has beautiful eyes and got excited by a younger dog, earing the nick name 'dancing queen'

Millie at home!

Post  Lyn on Fri Sep 16, 2011 12:25 pm

Millie is settling in really well,to say she has only been here for a week,

she seems to be fitting right in!

Whilst writing this she is fast asleep on the gaffers chair, snoring her head off!!!

Millie loves playing with her new friend Chester, they get on really well, even sharing

the toys and love playing tug with the rope toys.they walk great on the leads together,

side by side! They even dont mind sharing at food time. They also sleep together

every night.Millie is very interested in our three cats,we are trying to get her not to

chase them every time she sees them.Sooty one of our cats, gave Millie a love the

first time she saw her, we all held our breath because we didnt know how Millie

would react,Sooty must have thought it was Chester, when she realised it wasnt

she just walked away,i think it surprised Millie as much as it did us!

She also has been on the school run, something which Chester loves to do,

hopefully she will enjoy it as much as he does. She is still a little unsure of

other dogs, but hopefully Chesters reaction to them might help her realise they are

ok to be around.

Millie is a happy dog, hope she enjoys living with us as much as we enjoy having her

here with us.Very Happy

Fantastic news!

Post  Ria on Fri Sep 16, 2011 1:07 pm

Lyn, it sounds like Millie is settling in a treat, and learning lots of feline and canine socialisation skills along the way, not to mention being around the humans too!lol!

Keep up the good work and keep us updated, and don't forget to let us have some photos (I'll email you the instructions).

A bit of a lap dog

Post  Nina on Tue Sep 27, 2011 10:49 pm

Milly is a lovely girl. She doesn't seem to be much into playing ball, but what she really likes is a good sniff around. She is all muscle and as such looks very strong but she walks well on the lead and is easily manageable. She was very good at having her pictures taken and was extremely pleased with herself, performing a little dance for me, once we finished and I said: "All done, what a good girl you are."

The moment I sat on a bench she jumped next to me and became instantly glued to my side. After a while she decided that getting fuss glued to my hip was not enough and decided to opt for the lapdog approach. After a bit of climbing she settled down curled up on my lap, radiating happiness. We had a great time together, but whilst I look forward to our next walk, I hope that she will be going into a home that WILL be forever, soon.

poor Milly

Post  Angela on Wed Sep 28, 2011 12:45 am

Poor Milly, she must be so confused.

I can only imagine what it means to a rescue dog which has been through a lot, to be rehomed and then given away again.

How can that poor sould ever again truly trust and settle?

I hope that Milly will get what she deserves asap: a loving family that stands by her no matter what. I love you

Sweet as sugar candy......and she really is, loves a good sniff round, snorts a bit, gives you the nod and the wink then a whistle stop tour until you submit to the sausage you thought was well hidden, but that sniffy nose had found it well before she gave in to temptation and tried to prise it out of the goodie bag, what a girl!

Millie

Post  anne jenkins on Thu Nov 10, 2011 12:24 pm

Enjoyed a lovely walk with Millie yesterday (even in the showers) she walked lovely, kept on eye on me making sure I was still there after a couple of slippery moments previously. Head down and straight for the bench where she seems to enjoy her customery cuddle's plus any forthcoming snacks. Away we went again and such a delight to walk alongside with, hopefully she won't be there next time I go up, but if she's still there, I'll certainly look forward to her company once again x

Milly 27.11.2011

Post  Angela on Sun Nov 27, 2011 6:40 pm

Milly was ins a sniffel mode again today. Too funny. We were hardly walking, more standing around and sniffeling (not me) .

Eventually she decided to move away from those exciting smells and we could walk a bit- straigt to the biscuit stations-the benches. I am sure that's what she sees in them.

A sweet dog with impressive muscles. She is my little Ms Schwarzenegger.

I see what you mean about her muscles ... Oh my goodness - she is built like a brick outhouse!

Millie would definately benefit from a strong owner (well, strong enough not to be pulled off down the road). She is a gorgeous dog with beautiful habits and a lovely smile, just that pull needs some work on it. When I took her out for a walk, she knew the routine and where one is supposed to stop for treats .... sadly as this was my first time dog walking I had not realised that I was supposed to fill my pockets with treats and stop to release them at the appropriate time ..... I couldn't understand why she looked so expectantly at me for so long ... then I read her thread, and the penny dropped (which was more than the dog treats did!)

Sorry Milly - next time I'll bring some - promise

The first time I ever walked Milly, I could tell she had spent a lot of time with Karen!

She saw a bench, dived for it and knocked it over backwards! Unfortunately, I had to follow as I didn't want her to get off the lead! It was very adventurous, and so much fun to see her getting all excited over the sight of a bench. After we picked the bench up, we sat down and little Milly thought she was a lap dog.

Her tail didn't stop wagging the entire time we sat on the bench, and she happily sat on my lap and watched the world go by.

All Milly wants is someone who can give her the love and affection she rightfully deserves. Whoever takes Milly will never be short of love and a friend. I love you

Hi there,

The first step would be to go to the kennels to view her and take her for a walk around the grounds. Give the kennels a ring tomorrow to make an appointment, so they can make sure she's ready for you to see when you arrive. Phone 01299 269181 tomorrow between 10am and 4pm. Once you have met Milly and decided you would like to adopt her, then a home check will be arranged. Good luck!! She's a lovely girl, and so needing a forever home. She's been in kennels a very long time now (over 6 months)and really does deserve a chance.

Milly Munch

Post  Jeanette on Mon Mar 26, 2012 9:49 am

We had a lovely time together, the sun shone on us as we played tugger, she is strong and cheeky almost winks at you while playing. We sat down in the playpen area she was off lead and chose to sit with me, right in between my legs belly up having a tummy rub and a good roll. Took her treats nicely after sniffing them out in my pocket! Milly just wants to be loved, I could munch her all day and could cry for her without her very own family. Come and visit ask for Milly and prepare to be loved.I love you

Rescue Me

Post  Jeanette on Sun Apr 01, 2012 12:37 pm

If anyone out there is old enough to remember this mowtown tune by Fontella Bass, this is just what Milly wants. We relaxed on the bench today and watched the fun of the first car boot sale, lots of people with dogs enjoying the sunshine, food drink and out for a bargain. I could read Milly's mind looking so longinly, I want one, a human of my very own, to give big staffie kisses to, to rub my tummy, to understand that I will love them and ask very little in return, just to be loved. So we tried, we ventured into the car boot area, Milly got so excited, started pulling so we sat down on the grass and calmed, then a family approached us Milly was a star, are they my family, can I take them now??????? if only Milly, but one day maybe they'll be back and if not them, then another human all for you.Sad Sad
